Hello My Dears,

wedding during a pandemic

06 May 2021

Couples who have decided to organize a wedding this year are facing a big challenge. Finding the right balance between your guests' safety and having a good time at a party can prove to be a difficult task. However, we can borrow many solutions from couples who took a vow last season and have already gone through similar dilemmas.

That's why I decided to share with you the experience I gained while planning a wedding in October 2020 

  1. First of all, clearly define the rules that you intend to follow, a large number of guests will have their own opinion on the current restrictions and effective solutions. Therefore, you must establish united front that you both will defend. Do you give up the buffet in favor of smaller boards with snacks placed in the tables, to limit the number of people with access to the same dishes? Does your pastor require all guests to wear masks during the wedding? or maybe due to the limitations in the number of guests you decided on wedding without kids? Such information should be clearly communicated to your guests and if they don’t agree with your decision, tell them that on this special day you want to be sure that you have ensured the highest possible level of safety for everyone and therefore you ask for understanding. Thanks to this, you will avoid unpleasant situations on the wedding day.

  2. Prepare plans A, B, C and D One of the biggest problems in organizing a wedding these days are the ongoing changes in guests limit. Therefore, analyze your guest list under this account beforehand.

First, determine what the minimum number of people is acceptable to you. Will you decide to organize a party if you can only invite 20 people?

Then review the guest list again and think about which of your guests you will have to decline if the restrictions go into effect before your wedding. These decisions are extremely difficult, so you don't want to make them at the last minute.

Finally, think about what you will do in a situation where the organization of the wedding party will not be possible. Do you prefer to get married in the presence of only your Best Man and Bride of Honor and organize the party on another date, or do you postpone both the ceremony and the wedding?

Preparing for the worst can be a bit depressing when planning, but in the long run you will be more peaceful knowing that no matter what, you are prepared and have an action plan for any possible change.

  1. The website of the local Sanitary and Epidemiological Station is your new best friend! Data on the current epidemiological situation in the country will be available in almost every source of information, but it is worth remembering that there are nuances that will be considered differently depending on the rules that have been adopted for a given region. If you are not sure about something, it is always better to call the relevant Station and confirm the information you have. Thanks to this, in the event of an inspection, nothing will surprise you.

  2. Forewarned is forearmed. Have a few spare masks and disinfectants for your guests. Before the wedding day prepare a briefcase with the current restrictions, a list of guests and your contact details, take it with you to the ballroom and keep it with you for a week after the wedding. In the event of a control on the wedding day or infection of any of the guests, you will be able to provide the necessary information much faster.

However, the most important advice I leave for you is "do not panic and approach the organization with peace". Remember that the dilemmas that seem to be a nightmare today in a few years will only be an anecdote told at the family table. Do not let the madness get into your head and enjoy your love.

Best regards,

Dominika
